FAITH
Have you ever put your trust in someone, or something that failed to be trustworthy? My guess is that just about everyone has,… I have. How do you respond? Do you simply decide not to trust that person, belief or institution anymore? It seems that nobody trusts lawyers, politicians or televangelists any more. Does that mean that all of them are untrustworthy? What should our attitude be toward those who have failed our trust?
Today I was reminded that we fail God each and every day of our lives. You know how it is,… you wake up thanking God for the new day, then climb out of bed and immediately get hit with the day’s first problem. Of course my first response is usually,”Great,… looks like it’s going to be one of those days…” See how it works? I’ve already failed Him because I’m looking at my circumstance as a pain-in-the-butt rather than an opportunity to let God teach me something! Or how about this one; You decide to spend a day fasting and seeking God’s will,… planned it ahead of time,… and then you smell fresh biscuits and gravy coming from the kitchen. Ooooo,…. epic fail.
God doesn’t stop loving us… ever !!! Not only that, but He never stops giving us chances to try again and get it right. This is the example God gives us through Jesus. God showed His love for us in that while we were still dying in our sin, Jesus Christ died for us. He didn’t wait until we could prove we could be trusted. If that were so, He’d still be waiting. So, since Jesus was willing to give his life for the very people that were mocking Him as He was hanging on that cross, don’t you think we should always be willing to give those who have failed us a second chance? I do.
