Big Ideas (in a shrinking world)

The longer I keep trucking, the smaller this country becomes. Who would have thought that I would spend most of my adult life driving an 18 wheeler around the country… I mean, we’re talking about a guy whose first ticket was for driving on a sidewalk on the North Park College Campus in Chicago!  My second ticket was for “exceeding posted gait”… that’s right,… I was riding too fast… on a HORSE!  (A rented horse named Maggie.)  But here I am after 20 years of haulin’ freight, never in any bad wrecks (Thank You Lord!), never beaten or robbed (Thank You Again Lord!), never looking at a map (because I know where everything is), and never making enough money (because Uncle Sam keeps making it harder). Enough already. I’ve seen everything I’ve wanted to see. Now I need to make the time to enjoy it all!

If there’s one common misconception about trucking, it’s that truckers get to see the world and enjoy it. There are two problems with this: first, not everything in this world is something you want to see, and second, there’s no time to enjoy the things that are nice to see because you’re always on a deadline. It wears on you. I can’t tell you how many truckers want to get out of this industry right now, but believe me,… it’s a LOT. Trucking used to be fun back when a driver could move at his own pace. Not so anymore. The D.O.T. regulations are humanly impossible to abide by, and yet every driver in America is expected to follow these regulations to the letter. To make it worse, Uncle Sam is now watching our every move via satellite. Big Brother is watching!

So, with all that said, I’m extremely motivated to make this new business venture work. Other people are making lots of money doing the same thing I’m learning how to do. If they can do it, so can I. It’s time to break free from the rat race, earn a respectable income, have more time to enjoy life, do the things I’ve always dreamed of doing, and most of all, spend lots of time with my wife and kids! ……….. after I get this load delivered…. and the one after that…

Starting Over

As most of you know, for the past 3 years I have been trying to figure out how to generate income utilizing internet marketing. I formed MAS Global Enterprises LLC  and incorporated in Nevada to give myself a tax shelter (or so I thought) and protect my personal assets.  I have spent the last 3 years studying all the different ways to make money online and have been very dissappointed with the results. Although I have learned more than I could possibly have imagined during that time, much of my new knowledge has been wasted. Why?… because in the game of internet marketing, the rules are constantly being changed by the ones making the most money to ensure that the rest of us don’t take away their profits. I’m of course talking about Google. It seems like every time someone comes up with an idea for increasing their page ranking, Google changes their algorithm to make the idea tank. Back in early May, I had seven websites ranking on the first page in the Google search engine. Then they pulled a switch and now I’ve only got one. (sigh…)  In the meantime, companies I had been doing business with had started to go under due to the bad economy. To make a long story short, MAS Global Enterprises LLC  could not survive.

So,… I took what I learned from my first experience as a business owner and decided to start over again and do it right. Today I started the ball rolling on a new business endeavor. I’ve enlisted the help of my brother this time and we’ve come up with some fun and creative ideas about how to put us both in a win-win situation. I feel much more confident this time around since I’ve already discovered where the biggest pitfalls are when starting a business.  This time around I’m working with a much larger and more well known legal/financial organization (Nevada State Corporate Network). If they can fund Bill Gates, Pepsi, and Boeing  (to name a few)  I guess they’ll be capable of handling my new company.

Speaking of which, my new company now has a name;  Web 5 Marketing LLC.  Jim thought it was “very impressive”. (inside joke)  I learned the first time around that having a long name for your company is a pain. It means the URL, email address, and references to the company when blogging all take longer to type!  So this time I kept it as short as I could, making sure the URL was available. The focus this time will be much more concentrated on quality rather than quantity. There will be just a few websites, but many more inbound and outbound links to related blogs and high ranking websites. I will also be using my connections at Worldwide Brands and Seneca Data to promote their products and services.

Bottom line:  I’m excited about this new venture and I ask for your prayers as I do my best to conduct my affairs in a way that is pleasing to God and helpful to my customers. Thanks, and have an awesome day!
